Honorary Chairman of the Board of Administrators of Alpha Financial institution, Yannis Costopoulos handed away on Tuesday on the age of 83.
Costopoulos performed a key function in making Alpha Financial institution one of many largest banks in Greece.
Born in Athens in 1938, Costopoulos obtained his B.Sc. in Naval Structure at King’s Faculty, Durham College, England.
He’s the grandson of the founding father of the Industrial Credit score Financial institution, as Alpha Financial institution was known as when he joined it in 1963.
He served as Managing Director and Basic Supervisor of the Financial institution from 1973 and was Chair of the Board of Administrators and Basic Supervisor from 1984 to 1996.
From 1996 to 2005 he served as Chair of the Board of Administrators and Managing Director of Alpha Financial institution.
From February 2005 to Might 2014 he served as Govt Chair of the Board of Administrators of the Financial institution, whereas in June 2014 the Bizarre Basic Assembly of Shareholders conferred upon him the title of Honorary Chair of the Board of Administrators.
Costopoulos has been described as a “patriarch” by different bankers.
